ConsumerBase Completes Provisional Patent Application

Company Seeks to Protect Process of Matching Online-Captured/Offline Behavior

Evanston, IL (PRWEB) May 15, 2006

Today ConsumerBase announced that it has completed a Provisional Patent Application for the process of matching online captured data to offline data and packaging it as a single bundle. The company, with a large database of U.S. consumers, takes Internet “click-stream” data and overlays it onto its database of postal information. The patent will protect ConsumerBase’s methods and technology.

The aggregated information bundle enables direct marketers to target consumers precisely with direct mail campaigns based upon demonstrated online interest patterns.

ConsumerBase collects click-stream data by attaching tracking pixels to email solicitations. When recipients click on emails in which they are interested, the pixels record time/date/IP information back to the company’s master database. The stored information can then be used for online or offline marketing campaigns.

For instance, a marketer planning a direct mail campaign for fishing gear could target prospects more efficiently by directing mailings to those who have shown interest in emails related to outdoor activities. Such behavioral targeting positions direct mail campaigns for greater success.

Larry Organ, CEO of ConsumerBase stated, “There is a growing understanding among marketers that behavioral data is the most efficient method by which to target consumers. We plan to capitalize upon that trend and we have taken the logical step of protecting our interests by moving forward in the patent process.”

The company expects to have full patent protection within the next 12 months.
