Teenager Makes over $10,000 in 2 Weeks by Selling Words
A 14 year old British entrepreneur has made over $10,000 in just two weeks after discovering a new form of internet advertising – Word advertising. Wisdom Uzor set-up http://www.searchbystory.com 2 weeks ago after thinking of ways to help his family live a better life.
London, England (PRWEB) May 16, 2006 -- A 14 year old boy has made over $10,000 in just 2 weeks by discovering a new type of internet advertising. He set up a website that offers words as advertising space.
Wisdom Uzor, from London, England, set up searchbystory.com after thinking of ideas to help him and his family live a better life. Uzor said that danger faced by residents in local estates (projects) spurred him into action: “I’d like to be able to live safely with my family, so I decided to think of a way to make money, and move to a more secure place”.
His site enables visitors to search for information on the internet by clicking on words in a story. There are a number of stories on the website that range from music stories, to fashion stories. When you click on a word in a story, you would be taken to a website that is related to the story genre. For instance, if you were reading a story about music, every word you click on would take you to a website related to music.
Despite being online for only 2 weeks, Uzor has already made a phenomenal $10,000 by selling 100 words and is receiving well over 15,000 hits daily. He claims his website’s immense popularity has come as a result of a press release that he invested in when he started.
“At first I didn’t think the press release would work, but to my surprise, after 2-3 days several articles had been published and I was receiving thousands of hits.” comments Uzor, “This just goes to show how far a simple, original idea can go.”
Customers can advertise their own website on http://www.searchbystory.com by buying 1 or more words for US$100 each. The words will link to the customer's own website when clicked on. Also, their words will display a screen tip that shows a description of their website. The link will then remain on the website for at least 2 years.
"Customers can pay for Words with credit cards or, if a company wants to buy a large number, they can always arrange a wire funds transfer," he said.
"I think this will mostly appeal to businesses," Uzor commented, "and perhaps larger companies will buy up lots of words to have a more prominent position on the site."
He believes that his Words offer good value to buyers because of the response he is receiving from people that have already bought his words. “Each linked word on my website is averaging around 5,000 to 7,000 clicks per week”, explained Uzor, “One site even tripled their Google Adsense revenue as a result of buying my words. Plus, they are getting at least 2 years advertising space for only $100.” comments Uzor.
In total, there are 20,000 words up for grabs on Uzor’s website. If he sells all 20,000 words, he will net $2 million.
Asked what he will do with the cash should he reach his $2m target, Uzor said “First, God willing, I’d like to move to a more secure place with my family, maybe America. I’d then like to pay for University because as my mom always says, Education is the key”.
