Cell phones bring us much freedom, but with them come a whole slew of decisions to make. Which carrier covers your area best? What phone model has the best features for you? And if you’re a Mac user, there are even more questions if you want to take advantage of syncing your address book and calendar with your Mac. Plus, there’s the question of using your cell phone as a modem.
Area coverage, numbers of minutes, phone features, OS compatibility, data plans... So many things to discover. The reality is that the only way to do much of this is to ask others for their experiences. This is why John R. Chang founded the Maccellphone list at Yahoo Groups — and why the MacGathering is hosting a Mac Cell Phone Birds of a Feather discussion at the next MacGathering in North Hollywood on the second day of the show.
Mac users have unique concerns regarding hooking up or syncing their phones so the focus of these issues is on the Mac. The broader issues of carriers, signal strength, and plans are of benefit to Windows and Linux users as well. All are welcome.
This session, hosted by Apple Consultant Bruce Gerson, is free to all attendees of the MacGathering/SoHo Tech Show. For more information, please visit the show’s Birds of a Feather page.
Advance admission to the show is $10 for Exhibits and the free sessions, $70 for a One-Day Seminar Pass, and $109 for a Two-Day Seminar Pass. Teachers and Students, pay reduced admission of $7/$49/$89. Coupons can also be found on the web.
The 3rd annual MacGathering, along with the new sub-theme, the SoHo Tech Show, takes place Friday and Sat, May 19-20, 2006 at Beverly Garland’s Holiday Inn 4222 Vineland Ave (immediately off the 101 at Vineland) in North Hollywood, CA 91602-3399. For more information visit MacGathering.com

About the MacGathering™ and SoHo Tech Show™
The MacGathering, now in its third year, is produced by Macintosh author/consultant Deborah Shadovitz. The event brings vendors and users together, provides excellent seminars and provides networking and entertainment as well. This year the show adds the SoHo Tech Show™ as a new focus. This small/home office aspect was created to help people become familiar with computer technology so they can make cost-effective informed purchases for their small business. You can learn more about the event at MacGathering.com and about Deborah Shadovitz at [Shadovitz.com] http://www.Shadovitz.com.
