Author plans to personally mentor 25 underachieving young adults and give away 1,000,000 books to families with teenagers or young adults

In a dramatic action to help families today as they struggle through the tough adolescent years of their children’s development, Ken Olan, former banking executive turned author and speaker, announced this week that he will give away an electronic copy of his new book, “Flashpoint for Young Adults – Ignite Your Potential!” free to the first 1,000,000 individuals to respond by July 4, 2006.

Families can easily get their free copy of FlashPoint by logging onto a special page on Olan’s website,, type in their first name and email address and they'll be able to download the book.

“I’m absolutely blown away by the tremendous response thus far," says Olan. “It feels great to give young people information and tools they want and need, and I’m confident we’ll reach the goal.”

In January 2006, Olan published “Flashpoint for Young Adults – Ignite Your Potential!” (Lynn Scott Publishing -- $17.95) after eight years of research and writing. He wrote the book with one thing in mind – to help young adults achieve even greater things sooner by learning about themselves, how life works and how to achieve their full potential.

"FlashPoint captures the essence of critical life skills and a healthy forward-thinking perspective to help teens build a plan for both academic excellence and achievement in life," states Michelle Pola, Ed.D - Executive Director, Houston A+ Challenge.

To make this offer even more compelling, Olan is proposing a powerful challenge to parents and young people. “Find me 25 underachieving young adults to mentor from across the country. After they read Flashpoint and do the exercises in the book, I'll personally work with each of them on line for six months. The result will be that each of those young adults will report making some form of dramatic progress or improvement in his or her life,” explains Olan.

The 25 winners will be chosen based on the story each young person has to tell about why they would like to take advantage of this unique opportunity to get more out of life. Stories should be emailed to

When asked why he was making such an offer, Olan said, “I know it may sound like a cliché, but I want to make a difference. I know from personal experience that FlashPoint will help young adults -- or anyone for that matter -- make life work better for them, so just imagine a million families getting their hands on this information!

With today’s technology we can send a million ebooks to a million families or more, quickly and easily, and with summer just around the corner what better time for young people to take advantage of an opportunity like this.”

For those who would prefer the 226-page printed book, one can purchase it for $17.95 at
