Exposing Elegance, Beauty is the Currency of Diversity’s Wealth,
The Photography of Alan Miller, Friday Night June 2nd at 7 p.m. 2 a.m., Location: 5th Street Gallery, 421 North Main Street, Pueblo Colorado 81003. 719-784-6068
From Alan Miller: When I look at these photographs, what do I see? A thread of light and shadow that I see binding this show?, The exposed elegance, is beauty. I see vision, framed and illuminated. It makes me feel religious in my own way. I'm pagan in my spirit. I worship beauty.
To watch light curve around a man’s chest or dance in a women’s eyes, speaks to me as the divine.
America’s wealth is measured in dollars and power… power and beauty cannot co-exist but evolve as friends, never lovers. Aesthetics are mystical. Beauty is the connection between my visible and invisible worlds. Seeing is my believing.
Some people still argue about whether photography is an art. Photography has altered the way people believe, because it has brought us more and more in touch with ideas of the absolute. Photography is about perfection in what exists and what can be cultivated. And so photography is a miracle in the history of aesthetics. A perfect, unmistakable form of history. It records with absolute fidelity and the beauties of our times.
Beauty is all the religion I need. It's proof of the divine.
I’ve been a photographer… no, a witness of the evolving story of new definitions of culture and value. Wealth as measured by money is no longer the pursuit for it gives us nothing other than paid rent. But seeking diversity in our lives is my comfort and inspiration. Diversity makes me want to encourage the best in people and restore the planet to tip-top condition. It makes me want to get out of bed in the morning, and if I'm lucky, it makes me want to get in bed at night.
Again, Beauty is all the religion I need. It's proof of the divine.
