Quebec, Canada (PRWEB) May 17, 2006 -- McGrath Info Solution (M.I.S.) announces version 1.1 of the MIS specification to make it easy for consumers to have information about their multimedia files and for other types of files/information. We offer our own solution to the .XXX problem and announce software updates.

The MIS specification will help with the exchange of information(metadata) for many type of contents (music's, pictures, videos...) between creators, distributors and users.

The MIS specification now have more than 200 tags of which: notes, multiple chapters, subtexts, goofs, questions, website links, resume playback from a video/audio file, tool tip for pictures, software error, multiple languages... We added new tags, updated tags and added the following types: Computer playlist, Website info, Humour, Stamps.
With the recent rejection of ICANN of the .XXX top level domain, we offer our own solution to this problem. We added WEBINFO.MIS (free, no license needed) that use the current tags of the MIS specification so that Web browsers and filtering software could read that file in the root of the web site and determine what kind of site it is and what is the recommended age. Thus, an adult entertainment site will have an age-rating of 18/21 but an anatomy site may have an age-rating of 12,14 ... This way, adult entertainment providers will keep their investment in their current domain and Web browser and filtering software will only have one file to deal with when WEBINFO.MIS is found. This will save time and bandwidth for both parties as they won't have to go thru the whole website.

M.I.S. recently launched "MIS Info Video v2.1" (available in a Free "Basic mode" and a "Registered mode" and in English and French), a Window XP based application that use the MIS specification. The interface can be used directly from the user's couch (10-foot onscreen TV interface). The new version can play multiple video and audio formats (AVI, WMV, MPEG 1/2, MP3 ...), resume a media from the last place it was stopped, includes a profile manager, mini web browser for the website links in a ".MIS", take snapshots of a video media and many more features. MIS Info Video will change to a free "Basic mode" after the 30 day trial period. And, for the foreseeable future, all upgrades to MIS Info Video will be free to registered users.

A free application will soon be available. "Info 2 MIS v2.0" will be the new name of "IMDB 2 MIS" (available in English). For now, "IMDB 2 MIS" takes the free files from the Internet Movie Database (IMDB.COM), allowing the user to create a ".MIS" file. By simply pointing to the users folders of recorded movies, the application will search the generated database and build a ".MIS" for each movies. "IMDB 2 MIS" can be used as a simple ".MIS" editor (title, description, age ...) for now. "Info 2 MIS v2.0" will go one step further by allowing the user to access most tags and therefore easily create a much complete ".MIS" for music files, pictures, home videos...
