Silver Hammer Studios Carves Its Niche in Family Friendly Entertainment with the Award-Winning Animated Film 'The Dancing Pumpkin'

Company teams with industry veterans at Cannes 2006 to expand franchise and announces plans to produce "The Dancing Pumpkin" as full length theatrical feature film.

Los Angeles/Cannes (PRWEB) May 19, 2006 -- Silver Hammer Studios is carving out a niche of its own in the world of family friendly entertainment. Eric Pearson, President of Silver Hammer Studios, announced plans to turn the award winning animated production THE DANCING PUMPKIN (www.dancingpumpkin.com) into a uniquely attractive franchise that will include full length theatrical feature films, DVDs and television shows.

Leading feature film producer and distributor Cinamour Entertainment will handle the worldwide distribution of the original 45 minute version of THE DANCING PUMPKIN during this year’s Cannes Film Festival.

Based on a children’s book of the same title by author Howard Butcher, THE DANCING PUMPKIN tells the story of four children, who on one magical night befriend a charismatic tap dancing pumpkin, and then set out on a thrilling adventure to stop an evil ogre. “I always imagined the idea of a whole secret world centered around Halloween pumpkins,” said Mr. Butcher. “The entire premise of THE DANCING PUMPKIN is based on a rich new mythology for Halloween.”

Silver Hammer Studios has assembled a team of esteemed industry heavyweights including Beau Rogers of Rainmaker Entertainment and Executive Producer of the Academy Award winning GODS AND MONSTERS, who serves as a consultant for the studio.

“Of all of the films I’ve done in my career, this is one of the most exciting projects I’ve ever worked on,” said Rogers. “The DANCING PUMPKIN has all of the elements of a breakout hit.”

Silver Hammer Studios has also retained Michael Murphy and Patricia Reider to oversee the theatrical release of THE DANCING PUMPKIN. Mr. Murphy assisted in the $40 million capital formation for the production and theatrical distribution of Don Bluth’s animation classic ALL DOGS GO TO HEAVEN, which MGM theatrically distributed.

“THE DANCING PUMPKIN has everything it takes to succeed in the lucrative family friendly animation market, so clearly defined by both ICE AGE and SHREK,” said Murphy.

Acclaimed music producer David Franco (PLATOON, THE USUAL SUSPECTS, CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER) is another ALL DOGS GO TO HEAVEN talent who will contribute to THE DANCING PUMPKIN feature film for Silver Hammer Studios. “The title alone, ‘The Dancing Pumpkin,’ inspires the highest musical aspirations,” said Franco.

THE DANCING PUMPKIN was first published as a book, which has since sold out its limited print run. THE DANCING PUMPKIN DVD has earned industry accolades, including a Telly Award for excellence in non network programming.
