North Andover, MA (PRWEB) May 19, 2006
Artful Sentiments, a stationery company featuring original lino block print designs, based in North Andover, Massachusetts, will debut in New York at the 2006 National Stationery Show®, May 21 – 24, with a new line of journals.
Designed to capture fond memories, hopes and dreams, the new 200 blank page, 5x7 spiral bound journals feature covers block printed by hand. Ten whimsical designs will appeal to the home gourmet, new moms, aspiring sommeliers as well as romantics.
The journals are competitively priced at $12 each, an affordable alternative to other handmade journals which retail for more than double the price.
“We are excited to be exhibiting at the National Stationery Show, where our products will be viewed by retailers nationwide,” said Artful Sentiments designer Ms Molly Broadley.
Journals were a natural extension of the card, calendar and “magnets with a message” business that Artful Sentiments was already supplying. “Following the positive response from retailers at the Boston Gift Show to calendars and gift cards, we’re confident the journals will stimulate the interest of those attending the National Stationery Show,” added Ms Broadley.
“Many of the designs are inspired by the memories I’ve had but our clients are often the best design assistants. Their great suggestions have inspired many of the new journal covers as well as card designs,” said Ms Broadley. “Clients can choose from our existing portfolio, or have a custom design created to commemorate a special occasion, person or pet.”
“From celebrating brides and babies, capturing grand travel adventures, remembering fabulous wines and favorite recipes, and the humble to do list, each book is the perfect backdrop for the written word, photographs, sketches or cherished mementos.”
Traditional Techniques - Unique Results
Original cover designs were created using traditional lino block printing techniques. The designs were sketched and then transferred to a block for carving. Each detail of the designs was carved by hand. After carving, ink was painted on or applied using a brayer, and the inked block was pressed onto the paper. In some cases, multiple blocks were used to achieve a single design.
As with all hand printing techniques, variations are expected from one print to the next, which adds to the appeal of these delightful works of art.
