Discover the issues facing The Bahamas today in John G. F. Carey’s provocative and profound collection of his famous newspaper columns.

The Bahamas are a tourist paradise, but what really goes on in The Bahamas for its peoples? Uncover the political and social concerns facing The Bahamas through this provocative collection of newspaper columns from 1998 to 2000, by John G. F. Carey. With razor sharp prose, Carey hones in on a different hot-button topic in each column. Why should young people get involved in politics? What can be done about corruption in Government? Should The Bahamas be isolationist and just what is the meaning of democracy?

Carey offers simple and effective solutions. Develop small business. Demand accountability from the government. And always, put The Bahamian people first. The Bahamas, Carey argues, needs people who will challenge the stagnant status quo and push politicians and theologians to the limit. Becoming a more active citizen is not just everyone’s right, it’s their obligation.

Carey is passionate—and profound, and this stellar collection of columns proves that one person can, indeed, make a difference.
