USA Songwriting Competition Deadline Approaching

Fort Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) May 22, 2006 -- Deadline is fast approaching for the 11th Annual USA Songwriting Competition. Winning songs will receive airplay on a nationally syndicated radio program “Acoustic Café” as well as XM Satellite Radio. This is the first Songwriting Competition that gives airplay to the winning songs, giving deserving bands, songwriters the recognition and exposure they deserve. Entrants stand to win a grand prize of over US$50,000 in cash and music gear from Sony, Ibanez Guitars, Peavey, D'Addario Strings, IK Multimedia, making this the largest prize package for any annual songwriting competition.
Many USA Songwriting Competition winners in the past have received recording and publishing contracts, as well as having their songs placed on film and television as well as various Top 40 artists. Darrell Scott's song "Good Ol USA" (the first prize winner of the country category in 2005) will be cut and released by Faith Hill in her upcoming album. Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer won the first prize in the Children's music category of the 2005 competition for their song "Scat Like That". The album of the same name is also nominated for a Grammy award in the "Best Musical Album For Children" category. Judges of the USA Songwriting Competition include A&R managers from record labels such as Warner, Universal, BMG/SONY Music.
