NY/NJ Coalition Launches Online Petition to Bring Back Cindy Hsu as Anchor of the CBS 2 News on WCBS-TV Ch. 2

A coalition of organizations in the New Jersey and New York metropolitan region are sponsoring a petition to WCBS-TV Channel 2 to bring back Cindy Hsu as anchor of the CBS 2 News following her removal on April 15.

(PRWEB) May 20, 2006 -- Two-time Emmy Award winning journalist Cindy Hsu was removed from her anchor position on the CBS 2 News at Noon on WCBS-TV Channel 2 New York effective April 15 although she continues to appear on CBS 2 News as a reporter. We do not have specific information as to why she was de facto demoted. Sources close to Ms. Hsu tell us that it was a surprise to her and that she is upset with her removal from the anchor desk.

Ms. Hsu is an award winning journalist, a role model, and she has been supportive of different non-profit social causes. She is adored and respected by many.

We encourage WCBS-TV Channel 2 viewers to read about her professional accomplishments and contributions to the community; an April 7 World Journal article about her removal from her anchor position; and to sign our online petition at: http://www.cindyhsupetition.org

On May 18, the World Journal published an article about our petition. The issue is also a topic of conversation among bloggers at www.blogcritics.org who write "I am also upset that they replaced Cindy Hsu on the noon newscast... bring Cindy Hsu back at noon" and "I also miss Cindy Hsu on the 12:00PM news."

This petition is being sponsored by a coalition of organizations (see below) in New Jersey and New York who held a successful petition drive at the Asian Pacific American Heritage Festival in NYC on May 7th. The positive interest in our efforts prompted our launch of an online petition. Also, earlier this week, the Coalition sent a letter to WCBS-TV expressing our concerns and requesting a meeting.

We encourage WCBS viewers to:

  • Send a link to the online petition to anyone who watches WCBS and ask them sign it;
  •
  • Ask organizations they are affiliated with sign-on to our coalition letter to WCBS-TV (e-mail us for more information); and
  •
  • Contact the station to ask that Ms. Hsu be brought back as anchor of the CBS 2 News by visiting: www.wcbstv.com/contact/

Sincerely,

Petition to Bring Back Cindy Hsu as Anchor of the CBS 2 News
