Carolina Beach to Debut Film and Fireworks Series for Families this Summer

Free movies and fireworks schedule is online at CarolinaBeachWeekend.com

Carolina Beach, NC (PRWEB) May 21, 2006 -- The town of Carolina Beach, N.C. will be hosting a “Film and Fireworks Series” this summer. The events will take place on Sundays and Thursdays beginning June 11, weather permitting. Family-friendly movies will be held at Carolina Beach Lake Park every Sunday and a fireworks display will be on the beach near the boardwalk each Thursday. Both events will be free and concessions will be available.

“We are really excited about the Film and Fireworks Series this year,” said Duke Hagestrom, coordinator of the Film and Fireworks Series. “We tried this concept on a smaller scale last year and due to the enthusiastic response from our visitors, we decided to put together a 2006 series that would last the entire summer. This year we will have new releases like RV and Over the Hedge, as well as family favorites like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire – recent films that appeal to the entire family.”

Additional information and a complete movie schedule is available at www.CarolinaBeachWeekend.com or by contacting the Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce at 910-458-8434.

“Carolina Beach is the perfect place to stage a Film and Fireworks Series because we are so family-oriented,” said Hagestrom. “Families come to Carolina Beach to kick back and get away from the pressures of today’s hectic lifestyles. We offer an atmosphere that takes you back to simpler days when a beach vacation was a time to create lasting memories of strolls along the boardwalk and bike rides near the beach. So, the Film and Fireworks Series was a natural fit for us.”
