Executive producer Matthew Charde of design-based animation and live action production company Global Mechanic announces that it has just signed acclaimed animation director Dirk van de Vondel.
Van de Vondel is a powerful addition to Global Mechanic’s roster of fine art animation. A filmmaker and painter, he bases his work on observational drawing, combining impeccable design, expressive painting and an uncanny sense of weight and grace in movement. He also works tirelessly on mixing digital and physical production techniques. Global Mechanic’s creative director calls Dirk’s animation “like drawn poetry. Dirk’s style is beautiful, bold and colorful…this is an artist at work.” Dirk has done work for Lee Jeans, Siemens, Coca-Cola, The Tate Gallery, Seat Automobiles and Nokia. His work can be found at http://www.globalmechanic.com
Other Global Mechanic directors: Bruce Alcock, Dan Sousa, Nathaniel Akin, Rich Ferguson-Hull, Ian Godfrey, Marv Newland, and Cliff Saito.
Global Mechanic has recently completed a worldwide campaign for Nokia with SEK&Grey Helsinki, and is working on a package of spots for Kellogg’s with Leo Burnett.
Recent TV series work includes "Fetch! with Ruff Ruffman” for WGBH and PBS Kids - premiered May 29, 2006- and “the Brothers Pistov” for Cartoon Network.
Their latest films are Bruce Alcock’s “At the Quinte Hotel” and Dan Sousa’s “Fable”. Both continue to compete at festivals worldwide, including Sundance, the Toronto International Film Festival, the Chicago International Film Festival, the Ottawa International Animation Festival, the San Francisco Film Festival and the Annecy Film Festival. “Quinte” won best Canadian animated short in Ottawa and the Golden Gate award in San Francisco.
