Motorcycle and Classic Car Enthusiasts Are Invited to Embark on a 90 Mile Ride That Will Help Make a Father’s Wish Come True

Motorcycle and classic car enthusiasts are invited to the Meadows Restaurant in Canton, NY, at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, for a poker run benefit that will raise money for a local area father who is in desperate need of a wheel chair accessible van.

Canton, NY (PRWEB) May 28, 2006 -- Motorcycle and classic car enthusiasts are invited to the Meadows Restaurant in Canton, NY, at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, for a poker run benefit that will raise money for a local area father who is in desperate need of a wheel chair accessible van.

The father, Kevin Barkley, is a stroke victim who has been paralyzed on the left side of his body for the last five years. His most recent operation, a leg amputation, has virtually made him house bound because he doesn't own the proper vehicle to accommodate his condition.

“Kevin requires a wheel chair accessible van so that he can go places with his family,” said Barbara Taylor, chairwoman of the event and co-owner of T & T Customs. “He also needs some financial support to help offset his expenses. We are hoping that this benefit will raise enough money to grant both of his wishes.”

The 90-mile poker run benefit, which starts at 9 a.m. at the Meadows Restaurant on County Route 27 in Canton,NY, will make stops at The Finish Line in South Colton,NY, Timber Tavern in Parishville,NY, Northern Lights in Brasher Center,NY, the Open Net Lounge in Massena,NY, and end at 4 p.m. at The Riverview Pub and Motel on Route 37 in Waddington, NY.

Registration is $15 for a bike/car and driver, $5 for each passenger, and $5 each for a poker hand. Each registrant will receive a blessing of his or her motorcycle and/or car by Father Craig Hacker, as well as a free meal at the end of the run. Every participant will also be given a map of locations stops, which will enable riders to enjoy the poker run at their own pace. Planned activities for the day include raffles, 50/50 tickets, live musical entertainment, karaoke, and an auction.

“Owners of cycles and vehicles of all makes and models are welcome to attend this event,” said Mrs. Taylor. “We are praying for great weather and a huge turnout.”
