Madison, WI-based folk/rock singer-songwriter, Nick Venturella releases his fifth album, ‘SweetSonic,’ August 15, 2006. The anticipated album release will be celebrated on August 19, 2006 at popular Madison, WI, club, Cafe Montmartre.
(PRWEB) May 29, 2006 -- Madison, WI-based folk/pop singer-songwriter, Nick Venturella, releases his new album, SweetSonic, Tuesday August 15, 2006.
SweetSonic, marks the release of Venturella’s fifth solo effort. Like previous albums, Venturella realized his vision independently, completing the album’s writing, performing, recording, producing, and even artwork by himself at his home studio.
”I usually take anywhere from nine months to a year-and-a-half to write a batch of songs I feel comfortable with for an album. The songs for SweetSonic were no exception. During the writing process, and certainly more fully after all the songs are written, I come up with a sonic vision for the album—a way I think the album should sound and feel. Then, I attack the recording process and try to do most of it in one shot, at least as much as possible. I spent roughly a total of two weeks recording and mixing this album. I don’t like to drag it out too long,” said Venturella.
SweetSonic is an upbeat folk-rock/garage/pop album that tells short individual stories that are thread together by the battle of love—the good, bad, and ugly contained therein—verses the practicalities and distractions of everyday life that can get in the way and even hinder love. Musical influences present on the album include the Refreshments, the Beatles, Dashboard Confessional, Patty Griffin as well as Ryan Adams and others.
The album begins with the Refreshments-esque song, “1,000 Years,” in which the main character singing announces his re-birth or re-discovery of himself in the midst of a fledgling relationship, while the possibility of new love emerges. The album proceeds depicting the battle between irrational and practical worlds of love and everyday life with bits of social commentary and self-exploration.
“Love By Satellite,” the first single from the album, expresses the singer’s call for a lone radio listener to hear his plea of love, “I’m singing to an audience of one/I hope you’re tuning in tonight/the radio waves are the only way/I’m sending my love by satellite.”
SweetSonic ends in the spirit of hope describing two lovers/friends who find they complement each other, and are a stronger force because of love. Together the two are now more equipped to “face the truth,” as Venturella sings on the last track, “You and Me Against the World.”
A CD release show for Venturella’s SweetSonic album will be held on Saturday August 19th, 2006 at Madison’s Café Montmartre. The show will begin at 8:00pm with fellow local artist, Sean Michael Dargan, opening the night. ($5.00 cover charge…must be 21+ to get in).
