Digital Chocolate's 'Tower Bloxx' Wins Mobile Entertainment's "Meffy" Award for Best Mobile Game

Digital Chocolate, Inc. today announced that Tower Bloxx, the company’s popular mobile puzzle game, has been awarded a 2006 Mobile Entertainment Award. These established Awards honor the companies and individuals who have pioneered new ideas, technologies and innovations that have shaped the mobile gaming industry.

SAN MATEO, CA & LONDON, UK (PRWEB) May 30, 2006 –- Digital Chocolate, Inc., a leading publisher of high-quality, original software for mobile phones, today announced that Tower Bloxx, the company’s popular mobile puzzle that tests users’ reflexes, has been awarded a 2006 Mobile Entertainment Award, better known as a “Meffy” for the Mobile Games category. The awards were presented during a ceremony at the Islington Business Design Centre in London, as part of the Mobile Entertainment Forum’s annual Mobile Entertainment Market (MEM) event.

The Mobile Entertainment Awards are the industry’s official benchmark for measuring success and rewarding innovation. Now in their third year, these established Awards honor the companies and individuals who have pioneered new ideas, technologies and innovations that have shaped the mobile gaming industry. Judged by independent experts and analysts, the Mobile Entertainment Awards provide innovators with an unrivalled opportunity to be considered for the industry’s top accolades.

This is the fourth major industry award for Digital Chocolate’s Tower Bloxx. The game most recently won a 2005 Mobile Entertainment Award, better known as a “Mobie” Award from CNET for Best Puzzle Game. Tower Bloxx also won Editors’ Choice Awards from both IGN and Wireless Gaming World and has received numerous top-rated reviews.

“We are extremely pleased to have Tower Bloxx recognized yet again for its quality content and superior game play,” said Trip Hawkins, founder and CEO of Digital Chocolate. “Most importantly, Tower Bloxx is proving to be a favorite of mobile consumers for being lots of fun. That’s what this is all about!”

Tower Bloxx is available through Digital Chocolate’s channel partners including Sprint Nextel, Cingular, Verizon, T-Mobile and others in the United States and Vodafone, 3, Orange, T-Mobile, O2 and others in Europe. Tower Bloxx is an addictive puzzle game that invites users to test their reflexes and their puzzle skills by quickly constructing skyscrapers while dodging fierce winds and crazed tenants. Single-button game play and Digital Chocolate’s popular mobile league, has made the game a favorite among mobile consumers.

“Digital Chocolate’s Tower Bloxx game is the most successful combination of innovative game play and quality content that we have seen in a mobile game,” said Rimma Perelmuter, Executive Director of Mobile Entertainment Forum. “We are proud to recognize Tower Bloxx with the Meffy for delivering innovative gameplay and endless fun.”
