Thousand Oaks, CA (PRWEB) May 31, 2006
Moravia Worldwide, a leading globalization solution provider, announced today a major expansion of its worldwide operations to Latin America. Following on from Moravia’s expansion in Europe in the 1990s and then to the US (2001), Ireland (2002), China (2003) and Japan (2004), this latest development includes the immediate appointment of Ms. Cecilia Piaggio as Managing Director of Moravia Argentina and the opening of a Moravia production center in Rosario, Argentina.
Moravia’s new Latin American production hub will provide multilingual project management services for Moravia’s global customers, with a special focus on regional support of Moravia’s clients in the Americas. Importantly, it will also strengthen Moravia’s capacity for localization services into Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese – two languages with a consistently increasing client demand.
A native of Argentina, Ms. Piaggio has worked in the localization and translation industry for over 10 years with leading Argentina-based providers of Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese translation services. Ms. Piaggio joined Moravia early in 2006, and has been working on-site at Moravia headquarters since then, cooperating with Moravia’s production teams and senior management to prepare for this important expansion. Ms. Piaggio will be joined in Argentina by a team of experienced industry professionals including project managers, software engineers and support staff. This team is also currently on-site at Moravia’s headquarters, competing training and integration programs.
“Argentina – and Rosario in particular – is quickly becoming a major localization center on the industry map,” commented Katerina Forstingerova, CEO of Moravia Worldwide. “In a vein similar to other locations, such as Central and Eastern Europe in the European context, and China on the Asian and global scale, Argentina is poised to serve as a major production hub for North American companies. In this sense, it provides a cost-effective production base, with a similar time-zone as North America (Argentina is GMT-3), an educated and skilled workforce as well as cultural proximity of the population not only in an American context, but historically also to European countries,” continued Ms. Forstingerova.
Said Ms. Piaggio, “Rosario is my home city and is where I have lived my whole life. Rosario has a strategic location in Argentina, and is known as an IT and telecommunications hub. It has a large pool of university graduates and an established translation industry footprint. The location also provides an excellent proximity to the service base for Moravia in other important countries in the region, including Brazil and Mexico.”
“The development of this new Latin American location is a natural step in our growth and we feel now is the right time for this expansion,” said Arturo Quintero, Chief Corporate Strategist of Moravia Worldwide. “Our objective is to have a significant presence in major global regions in a worldwide “follow the sun” production model. Our office in Rosario will be of major benefit to our customers in North America, and – working closely with our offices there – will provide additional multilingual project management capacity.”
