Our ‘Take a Stand’ program is about empowering kids to give back to their communities and we’re excited to help out more kids than ever.
Sherman Oaks, CA (PRWEB) May 31, 2006
In less than a week, more than 3,000 kids across the country pledged to raise money for a charity of their choice through the Sunkist “Take a Stand” program. Due to the tremendous response, Sunkist announced it will now distribute an additional 2,000 free lemonade stands, bringing its distribution total up to an unprecedented level of 5,000 stands. For a third year, kids will be squeezing their hearts out, making and selling fresh lemonade, to benefit a charity that they believe deserves their attention.
To qualify for a free Sunkist lemonade stand, kids must be 7 to 12 years old and submit their “Take a Stand” pledge online at http://www.sunkist.com/takeastand while supplies last. So far, kids from every state in the country have submitted pledges and will raise money for hundreds of charities nationwide.
“Sunkist was originally set to distribute only 3,000 lemonade stands, but when we began reading through the heartfelt pledges from kids we were inspired to send out more stands,” said Robert Verloop, Vice President of Marketing for Sunkist Growers, Inc. “Our ‘Take a Stand’ program is about empowering kids to give back to their communities and we’re excited to help out more kids than ever.”
As one of the world's oldest and largest citrus marketing cooperatives, Sunkist Growers is owned by more than 6,000 citrus growers in California and Arizona, most of whom are small family farmers, with approximately 2,000 of those growers producing lemons.
