(PRWEB) June 1, 2006 -- It is said that the phrase “less is more” was coined by Robert Browning in a poem about the painter Andrea del Sarto in 1855. Since then the concept has proven its truth over and over.
The latest evidence comes in the extremely simplistic free classifieds website emptum.com. In Latin the word emptum simply means “purchase.” The website emptum.com is precisely that, a simple marketplace for people to post items for sale, no more, no less.
The website is so simple in fact that it only took 3 days to conceive, code, and launch into production. This may sound absurd but once you see the simple design and it’s five simple functions you’ll see why.
Posting ads is its primary function. There is a single form to complete. There is no need to log in or register for a membership. Ads stay active for about 30 days and are then automatically deleted. This keeps content current and fresh.
Editing is the second most important function. Ad posters must also be able to quickly edit their ads. An unlock code is entered when the ad is placed. When the author wants to edit the ad all they do is enter the unlock code.
Deleting Ads is the third function. Ad authors must be able to remove ads for items that have sold or jobs that have been filled.
Flagging Ads is the fourth function. Any visitor to the website can flag a classified ad for a moderator to review. Moderators review the flags and decide if the post meets the site’s terms of use. Ads that violate the terms of use are removed. Moderators also monitor ad submissions and proactively remove ads that violate the website's policies.
Search is the fifth function and is handled by Google AdSense for search, and Oodle.com. Oodle is a search engine for free classifieds. A data feed is provided by emptum which allows Oodle to include emptum ad posts Oodle search results.
In a nutshell the site contains only the primary functions needed for people to post ads, nothing more, nothing less. It is most likely the world’s simplest classifieds.
