Elk Grove, CA (PRWEB) June 3, 2006 -- Moon Poem is an exhibition of 25 paintings and prints by Cynthia Charters. The subject matter of many of the paintings is the moonscape of the Central Valley Delta in South Sacramento County, particularly Stone Lakes National Wildlife Reserve and environs.
Moon Poem is a thematic show spanning several years of painting, although the concentration is paintings from the past five years, 2001 – 2006. Cynthia’s Moon Poem series considers the seasons of the year and the phases of our delta moon, Many of the paintings, such as October Moonset, 2006, are effigies of the disappearing natural landscape of California’s Central Valley. Others, like The Rise of the Moon of Awakening, 2004, are offerings that speak of the myth of place.
Moon Poem shows at UC Davis Buehler Alumni Gallery, May 30 – July 28. The opening reception is Sunday, June 11, 1-3 p.m.
