Durable Seawalls Become the Focus in the Gulf Coast and Beyond

The lessons of Hurricane Katrina which devastated the Gulf Coast has many communities and individuals focusing their attention on durable seawalls. From the Southeast to the Northeast, from the West Coast to the East Coast people, communities, cities and states are investing in the projection of their shore communities.

The after effects of Hurricane Katrina has left communities devastated and lives shattered. As the nation continues to work together to rebuild this once glorious region, many consumers, communities, cities and states are looking to protect their shore communities.

“You live in fear every time you hear about a storm coming,” Ian Skawinski, 46, Fire Island, New York explains. “You wonder if the seawalls will hold up, if the dunes will be washed away and your house along with them,” he continues.

Coastal communities around the nation are looking for more durable seawalls and advanced solutions for the power of nature. The ingenuity and determination of men and women is seen as the only way to provide greater protection against flooding and water damage.

Northstar Vinyl Products, LLC, is rebuilding hundreds of miles of seawall in the Gulf Coast and beyond. The revolutionary composite offered by Northstar, called POLARIS is being used along Highway 98 in Florida, and along communities in the Gulf Coast to create a barrier against the power of the oceans.

“We’re proud to be seen as an industry leader in providing protection for shore communities. Rebuilding the barriers in the Gulf Coast has been one of the most challenging and rewarding projects our company has ever had the privilege to work on,” Jeff Moreau, Northstar Vinyl Products, explains.

“Our history as an innovator and leader in creating durable seawalls is an honor and a responsibility. We take our responsibility serious not only for the reputation for our company but for all the families and communities that rely on our products,” Morneau continues.

Seawalls, often overlooked and ignored have become the focus of attention of millions of people around the nation as a result of a dangerous 2005 hurricane season and the impending 2006 hurricane season. As the Gulf Coast continues to be rebuilt, communities are taking aggressive action to protect themselves from a similar fate by installing durable seawalls and creating subterranean walls with the vinyl seawalls, dunes and plants to protect communities while being integrated into the scenery they are meant to protect.
