About Operation Gratitude

Operation Gratitude, a 501 (c)(3), non-profit, all-volunteer organization, was founded by Carolyn Blashek in 2003. Its mission is to lift morale, put a smile on a service member’s face and to express to all troops the appreciation and support of the American people. The care packages are filled with donated snacks, entertainment items and personal letters of thanks. All financial donations are used to pay shipping expenses which average ~$10-12/package. Hundreds of volunteers assemble the care packages at the California Army National Guard armory in Van Nuys during two annual campaigns: a Patriotic Drive in May-June and a Holiday Drive in November-December.
