Desert Highlands has been rated by the Club Leaders Forum, as a 2006 Platinum Club of America in four categories: Platinum Level Golf Club, one of America’s Top 35 among 800 other clubs; Number One Private Club in Arizona; Number One Residential Community in the Southwest; and Top 10 Residential Communities in the U.S.

“We are very proud to be named a 2006 Platinum Club of America,” says Merrill Tutton, President of Desert Highlands. “This recognition is a direct result of the team effort of our excellent management staff as well as the officers, directors and members of Desert Highlands. It is a distinguished honor to be shared amongst everyone involved.”

This rating is based upon the results of a survey conducted every three years by the Club Leaders Forum to identify America’s top private clubs. The survey is sent to over 6,000 private club managers and presidents and examines country, golf, athletic, yacht and city clubs as well as residential communities across America. Some of the hallmarks of great private clubs are fiscal responsibility, forward thinking, creative leadership, a clear mission and purpose for being, well-maintained facilities, a knowledgeable, caring and appreciative membership, a sense of tradition and continuity, top-quality food and beverage operation, top management, a personable, well-trained staff and open communication among members, leadership and staff.

According to John Sibbald, President/Publisher of the Club Leaders Forum, “Desert Highlands has been consistently rated as a Platinum Club of America due to the clear vision and direction of its Board of Directors, the leadership of General Manager Tim Bakels and the commitment and dedication of a well-trained professional staff. The Club’s sense of tradition, continuity and standard of excellence are not only well-known in Arizona but also recognized nationwide.”

Desert Highlands is one of the original high-end private master planned golf communities in Arizona where membership is provided exclusively with property ownership. Key amenities include an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course which was home to the inaugural PGA Skins Game in 1983 and 1984, an 18-hole putting course, racquet club, fitness center and award winning Clubhouse.
