Online Degrees Reach the Military Population with Sweeping Success

The government spends millions on educating its troops and many of these skills are accepted as classroom credits. In many cases, military personnel can qualify for accredited degrees based on this education alone.

Miami, FL (PRWEB) June 7, 2006 – Randford University announced its revised curriculum to include military training and experience as part of the required coursework to earn a degree. The schools admissions department states, ”You can meet your military obligations while earning your degree in an off-campus environment. It is possible to earn the majority of the required college credits by using the skills you learned in your military service. If there are any gaps in education, Randford University offers online courses that can be completed anywhere and at any time.”

Military personnel are learning the value of education and degrees when they enter the corporate workforce. Col. Robert Qualls stated, “In an effort to boost its enlistment numbers, the U.S. Army also is recruiting for corporate America... [the PaYS] program has signed on about 4,000 recruits who also signed letters of intent to work for one of 15 partner companies years from now, when their military obligations end. It's a win-win-win situation. Recruits are able to identify job possibilities before they start their military training. Companies get candidates who know how to work hard and as part of a team…”

The quality of military training is what influenced Randford University to accept these credits. One example is the The Army Distributed Learning System, which is an initiative funded fully by the Army to assist soldiers and civilians to receive quality training in state-of-the-art facilities and to improve training efficiency and flexibility. "Quality training is at the core of the Army's mission, and it's absolutely vital to readiness," said Col. Sharon Holmes, DLS project manager.

To stay competitive in the civilian workforce, the veteran population is now able to reap the reward of their military training. Even some employers are acknowledging these degree programs as a real bonus in strengthening their workforce. An HR manager in a leading software development company states, “We see energetic and bright people coming out of the military everyday. Not only have they been well trained, but those with degrees can help us keep a top-notch employee base. Our customers see the value and the these veterans grow quickly within our organization.”

Other factors are important as well when entering the corporate workplace. Self-motivation, self-discipline, and responsibility are all critical and most of these traits have been reinforced while serving in the military. With the business world as demanding as it is today, it comes down to education and degrees to get your foot in the door.
