Southwest Airlines Heats Up Summer with New Flights

Airline increases Denver service and adds flights in other key cities.

"Southwest is extremely pleased with the response we have gotten from Customers in the Denver market, and Southwest is delivering on the promise we made to increase service in response to Customer demand," said Kevin Krone, Southwest Airlines Vice President of Marketing, Sales, and Distribution. "In addition to 12 new Denver nonstop flights, we will also be adding new low-fare transcontinental service between Oakland and Baltimore/Washington which we are sure will be a hit with business and leisure travelers."
    
The new service breaks down as follows:

Beginning July 17, 2006
    

 
  • One new daily nonstop roundtrip flight between Denver and Houston Hobby. Fares begin as low as $79 one-way (see fare rules below).
  •     
  • One additional daily nonstop roundtrip flight between Denver and Baltimore/Washington (for a total of two daily).
  •     
  • One additional daily nonstop roundtrip flight between Denver and Chicago Midway (for a total of five daily).
  •     
  • One additional daily nonstop roundtrip flight between Denver and Phoenix (for a total of six daily).
  •     
  • One additional daily nonstop roundtrip flight between Houston Hobby and Tampa Bay (for a total of three daily).

Beginning August 4, 2006
    
 
  • Four new daily nonstop roundtrip flights between Denver and Kansas City. Fares begin as low as $59 one-way (see fare rules below).
  •     
  • One new daily nonstop roundtrip flight between Denver and Orlando. Fares begin as low as $99 one-way (see fare rules below).
  •     
  • One new daily nonstop roundtrip flight between Denver and Nashville. Fares begin as low as $89 one-way (see fare rules below).
  •     
  • One additional daily nonstop roundtrip flight between Denver and Las Vegas (for a total of seven daily).
  •     
  • One additional daily nonstop roundtrip flight between Denver and Houston Hobby (for a total of two daily).

Beginning August 17, 2006
    
 
  • One new daily nonstop flight between Baltimore/Washington and Oakland. Fares begin as low as $99 one-way. $99 fare available for nonstop flight only and must be purchased by Aug. 17, 2006. See additional fare rules below.
  •     
  • One additional daily nonstop roundtrip flight between Boise and Oakland (for a total of two daily).

"When we began service to Denver five months ago, Southwest knew this was a high-demand market, and this new service will offer more flexibility for our Customers when they make their Denver travel plans," Krone said. "With this newly announced service, Southwest will have 32 daily nonstop departures from Denver."

Southwest continues to be the low-fare carrier, and Customers can take advantage of Southwest's new service at even lower fares. These low fares are available for purchase today and are valid for travel from the date the new service is available (July 17, 2006, Aug. 4, 2006, or Aug. 17, 2006) through the end of the published schedule (currently Oct. 27, 2006). Tickets must be purchased at least 21 days* before departure.
    

 
  • Tickets for new flight between Baltimore/Washington and Oakland must be purchased at least 14 days in advance.

General Fare Rules
Fares are available one-way and are combinable with all other fares. When combining fares, all ticketing restrictions apply. Seats are limited. Fares may vary by destination and day of travel, and will not be available on some flights that operate during very busy travel times. Fares do not include a $3.30 federal segment tax per takeoff and landing. Fares do not include airport-assessed passenger facility charges (PFCs) of up to $9 one-way and U.S. government-imposed September 11th Security Fees of up to $5 one-way. Fares are subject to change until ticketed. Tickets are nonrefundable but may be applied toward the purchase of future travel on Southwest Airlines. Fares are valid on Southwest-operated published, scheduled service only and are not available through the Group Desk. Any change in itinerary may result in an increase in fare. Fares are not necessarily common rated and may not be available in the Washington, D.C. area (Baltimore and Dulles) and the Bay Area (Oakland and San Jose).
