DVD Trading Site Peerflix In Search of 'Most Unique' DVD Collection

First contest of its kind calls for movie lovers to submit pictures of their DVD collections with prizes and incentives going to the greatest “shrines” to DVDs.

Palo Alto, CA (PRWEB) June 6, 2006 -- Peerflix.com, the leading peer-to-peer (P2P) network that allows members to legally trade DVDs online, today announced its first annual DVD collection contest, named “Show Us Your DVDs!!!.” With nearly 70% of all US households consuming DVDs*, Peerflix is looking to find the “most unique” DVD collection in this vast consumer market.

Dan Henig, a senior manager at Peerflix, sees the contest as opportunity for movie lovers to showcase their collections. “This contest is not just about finding the biggest DVD collection. We want to find the most unique DVD collections out there…the best shrines to DVDs.” Henig went on to say, “This is an opportunity for DVD aficionados to showcase their DVDs online, not only to win great prizes, but so others can appreciate and admire what they’ve put together.”

The contest is open to all DVD owners and non-Peerflix members are encouraged to participate. The basic rules ask for:

  • A photograph of the individuals collection
  • The number of DVDs in the collection
  • A brief description of how the individual organizes their DVDs
  • A brief description of what makes the collection unique

Entries should be sent to dvdcollection (at) peerflix.com. A panel of Peerflix staff will judge the entries based on a variety of attributes. The contest runs through the month of June and winners will be announced in early July.

The Peerflix system allows users to trade used DVDs across a large, distributed network, keeping their DVD collections dynamic and fresh. Peerflix itself carries no inventory and does not participate in the transaction, which allows the end user to get DVDs cheap. Peerflix simply matches people and products while optimizing for trade speed, frequency, and geography. The company transfers its low overhead directly to customers by only charging $0.99 for each trade facilitated by its system. Since its 2004 launch, Peerflix has been steadily building its customer base and site inventory and today is the leading online destination for DVD owners to trade their DVDs online.
