Parents and kids alike will go gaga with “Modern Seed Essentials,” a new line of exclusively designed children’s furniture and nursery items available only at Modern Seed, the leading online store for modern parents. Aimed at both the style-conscious parent and the fun-loving child, the new line encompasses every necessity in baby’s first years. Modern Seed Essentials includes furniture, bedding and crib/storage solutions. The line debuts with a children’s furniture collection designed by furniture designer Eric Pfeiffer.

Modern Seed Essentials’ pint-sized furniture launches with the “Chalker” table, “Chip” chair and the “Bro/Sis” seat. Rooted in the belief that children’s furniture should be multi-functional, playful and affordable, Modern Seed founder Melissa Pfeiffer collaborated with husband Eric Pfeiffer to develop a collection that would challenge how parents think about furniture without compromising on style.

The Chalker table, constructed in Pfeiffer’s signature bentwood birch ply and laminated with a chalkboard surface, does double duty. Little fingers can explore drawing on the surface, running them up and down the curves and do just about anything that keeps little minds ticking.

A companion to the Chalker table is the Chip chair. Both are ideal for the three to eight year-old child. Inspired by a potato chip, this feat of engineering utilizes bentwood birch ply with no straight surfaces. Children can manipulate the chair with its carved handle, encouraging independence at an early age, and keeping parents happy. The seat shell is lacquered white. The chrome legs allow for stacking, making the chair appealing as a space-saving solution.

The Bro/Sis seat, designed for two kids in mind, is a chair with a dynamic form and lots of options. While the seat puts a new spin on “Musical Chairs” (potentially two winners, of course), children of any age upwards of (two years old?) can sit comfortably on either side, as well as adults. Inspired by the Pfeiffers own two children (four and six years old), the seat can also be used for sitting on one side only, while the reverse can store books and magazines, extending the life of this seat when junior goes to college.

“We want to offer families products designed specifically for their needs,” says Melissa Pfeiffer. “Affordable design solutions extending beyond baby’s initial years and childhood are at the forefront of parents’ purchasing decisions. With Modern Seed Essentials, a common thread runs throughout our creations: furniture as toy, sculptural yet functional and good value. Our new line dovetails beautifully with parents’ needs.”

Later this year and next, additional Modern Seed Essentials items include: a birch bentwood ply baby lounger, crib bedding, exclusive Alexander Girard pillows, and convertible cribs with storage solutions. All items available exclusively at Modern Seed.
