That’s because Young Plantations is delivering the best tasting, highest quality, gourmet South Carolina peaches to consumers nationwide. And all it takes to get these oh-so-healthy sweet bites of heaven is a trip to the Internet.

If you are ever traveling through South Carolina during the hot summer months and chance upon a roadside peach stand, by all means, step on the brakes, park your car and grab yourself a fuzzy red and gold orb. There is nothing, no nothing, like biting into a just-off-the-tree, sun-sweetened Palmetto State peach. Even if the juice dribbles down your chin and onto your shirt, it’s an experience you won’t soon forget, one that will have you longing for South Carolina and its quintessential summertime fruit year-round.

This summer you won’t have to travel the back roads of South Carolina to enjoy seasonal peaches with names like Big Red, Blaze Prince and Red Globe. That’s because Young Plantations, a Florence, S.C.-based purveyor of gourmet foods and gifts, is delivering the best tasting, highest quality, gourmet South Carolina peaches to consumers nationwide. And all it takes to get these oh-so-healthy sweet bites of heaven is a trip to the Internet.

It’s all part of Young Plantations’ strategy to bring the best of the South’s regional foods and gifts to the rest of the country, says company president Tom Coker. “People are longing for foods and flavors with a unique sense of place, that provide an experience as much as a meal or snack. Here in the South we’re very fortunate in that we have a rich farming and culinary heritage. Young Plantations is intent on bringing them to the rest of the country, whether it’s premium peaches or old favorites like chocolate-covered pecans.”

Coker’s timing couldn’t be better. Interest in specialty produce and gourmet foods is growing among restaurant chefs and regular consumers alike, giving rise to “boutique farms” that specialize in raising heirloom fruits and veggies for discerning palates. Young Plantations is partnering with Titan Peach Farms, located in Ridge Spring, S.C., which raises more than 45 different varieties of peaches in its orchards. Balmy weather, a combination of high tech-high touch cultivation, and environmentally friendly practices result in peaches as delicious as they are beautiful.

“In the past we’ve marketed our peaches on a wholesale basis only,” says Titan Peach Farm owner Chalmers Carr, III. “There simply aren’t enough hours in the day to do the things we’d like to do such as operating a roadside peach stand. With a little help from Tom and technology, the information superhighway is now our roadside stand.”

Starting June 19, fans of delectable South Carolina peaches will be able to order 20- and 40-count boxes of premium South Carolina peaches on-line at http://www.youngpecanplantations.com as well as the traditional methods of phone and fax. Orders will be accepted throughout peach season, which typically runs through mid to late August, but people are encouraged to act fast. Peach season is short and demand is anticipated to be high. “Once the peaches are gone, they’re gone—at least until next summer,” says Coker.

To ensure every peach arrives at its final destination in perfect form, the fruit is hand picked and hand packed in custom boxes that cradle each extra-fancy peach in protective foam. The boxes are shipped two-day express to preserve the tree-fresh quality. Young Plantations only ships Mondays through Wednesday to avoid weekend delays.

While nothing can replace South Carolina’s roadside peach stands, Young Plantations will run a close second. “South Carolina peaches from Young Plantations are the perfect indulgence,” Coker confides, “sweet, good for you and delivered to your door.”

Peach lovers can place orders for Titan Farms peaches by going to Young Plantations’ web site http://www.youngpecanplantations.com. Orders can also be placed by phone by calling 1.800.729.8004.
