How to Get Past Your Past, a new and different New York City enterprise, continues to garner attention because of its positive, motivational message as well as its inspirational founder who got past her past. The small company is working on its fall schedule for seminar and classes, is ready to release a series of program CDs, and tape a live seminar for DVD in the fall.
Its founder, Susan Elliott, now finds herself giving interviews almost every week. Elliott is the current spotlight interview on “That’s Crispy!” http://www.thatscrispy.com//CrispyNews/viewer.php?articleID=1159 a web site that highlights “positive” news by showcasing people who have made a difference in the world. In the past few months, Elliott has been approached by several magazines and production companies to work with them on publishing her story, her book and motivational materials.
Why all the attention? Because Elliott is a unique teacher who has been in difficult places and shares that story with others struggling to overcome adversity and challenging situations. “When I heard her story,” one student says, “I felt if she could do it, I can do it. Not only does she give you the tools and techniques to change your life but she gives herself as an example as one who did.”
After overcoming a childhood of abuse and abandonment, Elliott went on to become a therapist, a writer, a seminar leader, a motivational speaker and an attorney who has made all her dreams come true. Because her story is one of remarkable victory over much adversity, people have asked her, for years, for her to share her phenomenal story and teach others to get past what may be keeping them stuck in their life. Last year she began How To Get Past Your Past and started teaching classes and workshops in New York and Boston and is a guest lecturer and motivational speaker in many different venues. In June she released the first edition of a now-monthly newsletter and is working on a book, “How to Get Past Your Past: The Seven Things You Need To Do To Be Happy Now.” She is also working to bring her workshops, seminars and lectures to CDs, DVDs and television.
Although she is an attorney who works 50-60 hours a week or more, she puts on her classes and seminars to give back for what was given to her. “It would be so much easier come home and watch TV after 12 hours at the office, but I answer emails, develop my courses, work on my newsletter and my books, and give interviews. It’s exhausting, but the life I live now is so good, and I believe that to keep it to myself would be shameful. My seminars are my way to tell others that there is hope and a way out of any difficult situation.” Elliott is passionate about putting the message out there that no matter what the odds, it is possible to overcome the past and become successful.
How To Get Past Your Past will soon be taking registrations for the fall offerings but is always available for speaking engagements and interviews.
