Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement Holds Third International Conference in New York City over Memorial Day Weekend
APLB, Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement held their third annual conference to discuss topics of interest to all pet owners.
(PRWEB) June 10, 2006 -- APLB, Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement held their third annual conference to discuss topics of interest to all pet owners.
Founded by Wallace Sife, Ph.D, author of the award-winning book “The Loss of a Pet,” the Association for Pet Loss and Bereavement (APLB) is the only organization of its kind in the world.
During the conference, like-minded professionals and pet lovers got together in a unique exposition of presentations on topics important to all pet owners. The conference was designed to serve two distinct groups – 1) people personally concerned with pet loss and 2) professionals who serve them and the animals they love. This includes pet owners, bereavement counselors, veterinarians, their staffs, groomers, shelter, and wildlife rehabilitation personnel.
At this year’s conference, the keynote speaker, Bash Dibra, a world-renowned animal behaviorist and author, discussed the need and growth of the pet bereavement movement as a new industry. As a result, previously open only to professionals, plans are in effect to open one day of the 3-day conference to the general public.
The APLB is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping people during the loss of their pet. It is the internet pioneer in pet bereavement, and is constantly winning acclaim as the premier authority in this field. A unique feature on the APLB website is the Chatroom. Dates, times and Moderators are listed when you can visit if you are in deep bereavement and need to communicate with a professional about your loss. On average, over 5,000 people a month use this very successful service.
