WriterElf.com, a new web-based business, has recently arrived on the cyber-scene. WriterElf offers standard copywriting and concepting services. What’s different here is that the writer states, unequivocally, that she will be learning as she goes. Kristi Mitchell calls herself an ‘instinctive’ writer and goes on to explain that much of the written material seen these days is ‘cookie-cutter-ish’ in nature, because so many in the writing business have been trained in the same way.
“If we want to see something new and fresh, then we have to look in a different direction,” says Mrs. Mitchell. “I am a very strong writer and have been for as long as I can remember. My writing skills are a gift from God. I can’t cite any other reason for my abilities beyond that. When I write, I listen to the rhythm of it. A well written sentence is like music. There are high notes and low notes; riffs and melodies, but at the end of it, if you haven’t achieved harmony, all that results is noise.”
In answer to that noise, Mitchell has launched a writing business based on the idea that creativity should never be boxed. No stranger to higher education, she nevertheless, has not been trained in journalism or marketing, and prefers it that way. She states, “The more time spent in educating yourself in one subject, the closer to the ‘central brain’ you become. I don’t want to think like the rest of the group. I have my own brain and I am going to use it.”
Mitchell says she chose to personify herself as an elf because stories about the ‘fairy people’ have always had an air of fun, mystery, and magic in them.
“A little mischief is a good thing, too,” she says. “Sometimes you have to be able to pull a little magic out of your hip pocket. That’s where a writer elf comes in handy,” she says with an impish grin.
Mitchell offers a free, no obligation quote for writing services on her website, http://www.writerelf.com.
“I just want to prove that really good, affordable writing is out there for those who can’t afford to hire an agency. It’s a great world, and there’s room enough in it for all of us.”
