NOVI, Mich. (PRWEB) June 13, 2006
Mastery Technologies, Inc., http://www.mastery.com, a leader in workplace health and safety training technology, today announced the release of the first in a series of Web and CD-ROM safety and security courses designed exclusively for the offshore oil industry, “Security Awareness for the Offshore Oil Industry," produced by Moxie Media, the leading producer of safety-training videos for the maritime, inland water ways, and offshore oil industries. The course, which qualifies for IACET CEU credits, presents the specific levels of training required for compliance with the United States Coast Guard Maritime Security Regulations known as the Maritime Transportation Security Act and the International Maritime Organization’s International Ship and Port Facility Code (ISPS). The training is consistent with the requirements in 33CFR 106.220 and 104.225 and the ISPS code for personnel working in offshore oil and gas industries.
Vital topics the course covers include:
- The Maritime Transportation Security Act
- The Maritime Threat And Security Level (including the Homeland Security Advisory System)
- The Vessel Or Facility Security Plan
- Offshore Transportation Security Requirements
- Recognizing Suspicious Behavior & Activities
- Methods Used To Circumvent Security
- Recognition And Detection Of Dangerous Devices (including Bomb Detonation)
“Never has it been so easy for the offshore oil industry to train workers on the latest safety and security regulations than with our new “Safety Awareness” CD-ROM, Web-connected course,” said Bill Marker, president of Mastery Technologies, Inc. “Because the course is presented on CD-ROM, connectivity challenges on oil platforms in remote areas are not an issue, and shuttling people back and forth from the mainland to provide the training is completely unnecessary and obsolete. The CD transparently connects to the employer’s training database over the Web making real time management of the training process and control over employee access a snap.”
The course is also available over the Web and on traditional CD-ROM. 33 interactions actively involve learners in the training and provide them with opportunities to apply what they have learned. The program then assesses users’ understanding of each learning objective, providing remedial instruction and review when necessary until each question is answered correctly. Every question is fully narrated, which increases comprehension and serves as a welcome support mechanism for learners who speak English as a second language and those with reading-skill deficits.
Mastery's exclusive Follow-up Review, standard in all Mastery Advantage courses, provides time-delayed reinforcement and review of learners’ newly acquired knowledge, enhancing the transfer of that knowledge to their long-term memory. Course resources include a fully narrated glossary of terms in which each term is pronounced and defined aloud. A topical index provides a complete map to instructional material so users can access all course information at any time during the lesson. A complete transcript of all audio and video files is also provided, which can be used to simplify customizations. Closed Captioning is included as well.
