Boston, MA (PRWEB) June 15, 2006 –-
David Ortiz, major league baseball player and designated hitter for the Boston Red Sox, will host two baseball “Power Hitting” clinics for local youth on July 27 and 28 at Extra Innings in West Bridgewater. Presented by Papa Gino’s & D’Angelo Sandwich Shops, these clinics are designed for those young baseball players who want to learn how to hit like a pro.
The Big Papi Power Hitting Clinics will provide instruction on the mechanics of hitting, including bat grip, stance, trigger, swing and follow-though. The clinics will be taught by certified instructors who will be joined at each practice station by David and some of his major league friends.
The first clinic takes place on Thursday, July 27 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. and will be limited to players aged 7-12. The clinic will be followed by a Papa Gino’s Pizza Party and Q&A session hosted by David Ortiz. The second clinic will take place on Friday, July 28 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon. This event will be limited to players aged 13-17 and will be followed by a D’Angelo Sandwich Shops Picnic Party and Q&A session hosted by David Ortiz. The cost of the clinics is $299 per child.

Manley Street, W. Bridgewater, MA. Each clinic can accommodate 125 children. 10 tickets for each clinic will be donated to Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston for use by their members. An additional fundraiser will be held over the same weekend to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Boston and Plaza de la Salud Hospital de Ninos, a children’s Hospital in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
