Stratford-upon-Avon, UK Leading Midlands law firm Needham & James has found it has increased the number of chargeable hours recorded since installing the BigHand Digital Dictation workflow solution across their four sites. Following the roll out to 120 users across a Citrix platform, both fee earners and secretaries have experienced increased levels of productivity. Needham & James has recently been cited as one of the fastest expanding legal practice in the Midlands and will be moving to a new state of the art head office in Stratford in the autumn.
BigHand has facilitated the increase in chargeable hours through the flexibility to share and re-allocate dictations for transcription, faster document turnaround times and a smoothing of workflow peaks and troughs.
Paul Ella, IT Manager, championed the move from analogue tapes to BigHand Digital Dictation across the firm. Paul commented: “BigHand technology has altered the way the firm thinks about workloads and the flow of documents. As a result of the flexibility and transparency of the solution we have seen a substantial increase in the number of dictations being created for transcription. Across our Citrix platform, secretaries are able to pick up dictations regardless of location; across offices and remotely, and submit immediately to the relevant fee earner for authorisation. Despite the increase in dictations, document turnaround times have been dramatically reduced. BigHand is far more efficient than using tapes, and of course the chance of dictations being lost or deleted has been completely removed. The installation has certainly been the easiest IT project I’ve been involved in for over 20 years and it works flawlessly – We’re absolutely delighted.”
Herbert Andrews, Managing Partner, commented: “BigHand really has improved the way the firm works. It has increased productivity and efficiency enabling our fee earners to record more chargeable time than they could ever have done with tapes. I am delighted to have BigHand on board providing Needham & James’ digital dictation solution.”
