Anacortes, Washington (PRWEB) June 15, 2006 –- Following temporary, mechanical delays, Carlo Magno and the MS Express will return to the road this Saturday, June 17, 2006. Leaving Anacortes Saturday morning, Magno and the MS Express will travel through Everett and Lake Stevens as they head for stops in central and eastern Washington, including Leavenworth, Wenatchee, Coulee Dam and Spokane.
The MS Express is Magno’s 4,300-mile, cross-country trek from Seattle to New York City in an antique, electric wheelchair to raise awareness for handicapped accessibility issues and $1 million for Multiple Sclerosis. In the works for the last five years, Magno launched the MS Express on June 3 with celebrations in Anacortes and Burlington. His first official stop was Safeco Field in Seattle on June 5 where he threw out the first pitch of the Mariners game against Kansas City. Due to mechanical difficulties with his RV’s wheelchair lift and Blu, his 1955 Autoette Cruiseabout, Magno returned home for repairs following the game.
“I’m anxious to get the MS Express back on the road again,” Magno said Monday, “and I’m grateful to my supporters for being patient as we worked out the bugs.”
Magno, assistance dog Katie, friend Dan Townsend and his dog Emma make up the MS Express, along with an entourage of sponsors and supporters who will assist the team along the way.
