Fine Food, Wine and You: 21st Annual Southern New England Food and Wine Fest Has New Look

The Taste of The Litchfield Hills, a two-day food and wine festival annually attracting thousands of guests, will return to Haight Vineyard in Litchfield, Conn., June 24-25, 2006, with a new look, a new menu and a new name.

With a new look, a new menu and a new name, The NEW Taste of The Litchfield Hills returns to Haight Vineyard for its 21st year on Saturday and Sunday, June 24-25, 2006.

Since 1985, this two-day culinary festival has annually attracted thousands of guests to the state's oldest winery to "sample fine fare at a country winery in the summer air."

Under a new 4,000 sq. ft. wine garden pavilion, executive chef Michael Torres and pastry chef Heidi van Brederode of Old World Ovens will present a new menu of culinary offerings paired with Haight Vineyard wines served by the glass.

The menu will include such entrees as tenderloin tips of beef marinated in herbs and sesame oil lemongrass sauce, shrimp and Gruyére cheese wrapped in prosciutto with a sun-dried tomato sauce and filet of salmon in a lemon, dill and tarragon sauce. For dessert, there will be an array of gourmet cakes, cookies, gelato, pastries and tarts.

Guests will also enjoy live musical entertainment, upscale shopping with a myriad of vendors, old fashioned hayrides, plus winery tours featuring complimentary wine tasting.

The NEW Taste of The Litchfield Hills will be held rain or shine Saturday, June 24, 2006, from 11 am to 8 pm, and Sunday, June 25, 2006, from 11 am to 5 pm. Event admission is $6.00 for adults, $5.00 for Seniors. Children under 12 are admitted free. Food and beverage purchases are additional.
