Richard Rossi, auteur director of the critically acclaimed new independent film "Aimee Semple McPherson" is screening the film Saturday, June 17th, at the famed Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood to celebrate the film's release and international distribution. Rossi will appear in person and reveal the good news about the film's worldwide launch at the screening.
The movie explores the pain behind the Hollywood glamour of the 1920's famed female evangelist simply known as "Sister Aimee" by her followers. She shocked the nation when she mysteriously vanished in 1926 at Venice Beach.
Newcomer Mimi Michaels portrays McPherson, Ron Howard's father Rance delivers a strong performance as Aimee's father, and Kiera Chaplin, granddaughter of Tinseltown icon Charlie Chaplin, plays a sinister seductress who plots to destroy Aimee's temple in Los Angeles. The film was recently voted the #1 spot on the IGFA list of the 100 Greatest Guerrilla Films of all Time. Rossi and his son Joshua will perform live original music before the film.
