With the hurricane season underway and the first named storm behind us, vacationers still look towards the Caribbean for great vacations. Islands like Bonaire offer a respite from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and a retreat away from storms and bad weather.

The hurricane season is underway and Hurricane Alberto has come and gone dumping inches of rain on the Florida coast. Though the beginning of hurricane season may be considered the end of the Caribbean vacation season, travelers are beginning to learn more about islands like Bonaire.

“I have always known about Bonaire, because I love to dive and I love beautiful beaches,” Lai Tsang, 34, New York, NY explains. “I honestly never thought about going there during hurricane season until I learned that Bonaire rarely sees hurricanes or bad storms of any sort,” Tsang continues.

Bonaire and its leading resort, Harbour Village Beach Club, have been receiving their share of press in recent years. Bonaire has consistently been rated as one of the top dive destinations in the world, while Harbour Village Beach Club has again been named Bonaire’s leading hotel at the World Travel Awards.

“The weather in Bonaire is spectacular all year including hurricane season where some travelers become wary of the region,” Jessica Gonzalez, Harbour Village Beach Club, explains. “Even at the height of the hurricane season, Bonaire has historically been spared from hurricane watches, warnings or bad weather in general,” Gonzalez explains.

The 2005 hurricane season has left battered islands in the Caribbean and tattered coastline in the southeastern United States. Vacationers are still reeling from the aftermath of a devastating hurricane season and are looking for safe alternatives. Bonaire vacations are becoming increasingly more popular as would-be travelers learn about this jewel of the Caribbean and its spectacular Harbour Village Beach Club.
