Accor’s leading economy hotel brand Ibis continues its dramatic expansion in the region with three new hotels in Indonesia, the country where the brand was first launched in Asia over ten years ago.

The three new Ibis hotels (http://www.accorhotels-asia.com/ibis/index.asp?WT.mc_id=50012)will open in the next two years, starting with Ibis Cawang in Jakarta and followed by Ibis Semarang and Ibis Solo in Central Java. The additions will increase the Ibis network in Indonesia to 12 hotels in key commercial centres around the country

The 160-room Ibis Cawang will be strategically located in eastern part of Jakarta’s business district, 30 minutes drive to the airport and near office buildings, banks, government offices, automotive and telecommunication companies.

Ibis Semarang is currently under construction on the city’s busy JI Gajah Mada precinct, a prime area convenient for both business and leisure travellers. It is near the city’s central business district, and is just two minutes to the colourful Simpang Lima shopping area and within easy access to the city airport and train station. The hotel will offer 180 guest rooms, three meeting rooms, La Table restaurant, fitness centre and spa, business centre and fast Internet connections in every room.

Ibis Solo is scheduled to open late 2007 with 130 rooms, meeting facilities, La Table Restaurant and a business centre.

President Director Accor Indonesia, Gerard Guillouet, said the new hotels were part of Accor’s long-term strategy to expand the Ibis brand around Asia, particularly in Indonesia where it is the country’s leading three star brand.

“This is an important moment for Ibis around the Asia Pacific region, with major expansion of the brand in Thailand, Korea, India, Australia and Indonesia,” said Mr Guillouet.

“The addition of these three hotels gives the brand a significant boost in Indonesia, as the brand is now located in so many of the country’s key business and tourist locations.

“The largest growth in business in Indonesia is in the economy and mid-market sectors and Ibis is setting the pace in providing international-standard accommodation to this market sector.

“Ibis Cawang will be the fifth Ibis in the greater Jakarta district and will prove an attractive base for guests needing easy access to Tanjung Priok Harbour, Jakarta International Airport, Chinatown and industrial estates in the area.

“The announcement of the Ibis hotels in Solo and Semarang will also send a very positive signal after the recent earthquake that Central Java remains one of Indonesia’s most important tourist destinations.”

According to Mr Guillouet, Central Java is well positioned for additional Ibis hotels as Accor is already well established in the area following the opening of Novotel Semarang in May 2005. Currently Accor manages nine Ibis hotels in Indonesia, with a number of other Ibis hotels planned to join the network over the next couple of years.

Accor currently manages over 30 Ibis hotels around Asia Pacific, with over 25 scheduled to open in China, Thailand, South Korea and India before the end of 2008.
