Iams Pet Foods and Helen Woodward Animal Center were recently honored with a Cause Marketing Halo Award, America’s highest honor for companies and causes that do well by doing good.

Iams pet foods’program, Iams Home for the Holidays, received the Gold Cause Marketing Halo Award for Best Environmental/Wildlife Campaign at the fourth annual Cause Marketing Forum conference.

In this program’s seventh season, The Iams Company and Helen Woodward Animal Center teamed with 1,900 animal shelters to find loving homes for more than 328,000 orphaned pets. National and localized PR drove consumers to their area shelters where 100,000 Iams Adoption kits were distributed, an outstanding trial driver for Iams pet food products. Since the program’s inception, it has facilitated the adoption of more than 1,000,000 dogs and cats.

The Cause Marketing Halo Awards demonstrate the good that can be done when businesses and nonprofits team up,” said David Hessekiel, president of Cause Marketing Forum, Inc., the program’s organizer. “It’s a competition in which we all win.” Cause marketing is the strategy of building mutually beneficial alliances between companies and causes.

“In 1990 cause marketing spending was a bit more than $100 million – this year it is forecast to top $1.3 billion,” said Hessekiel. CMFI produces an annual conference, workshops, teleclasses and causemarketingforum.com, a website offering free resources to businesses and nonprofits interested in developing such programs.

“Iams is committed to bringing people and pets together for a happier and healthier life, said Kris Parlett, The Iams Company. “Iams Home 4 the Holidays allows us to work directly with thousands of key stakeholders in animal welfare and bring our mission to life for millions of consumers.”

“We are honored to receive the Gold Halo Award from the Cause Marketing Forum,” said Mike Arms, President of Helen Woodward Animal Center. “We are very proud to partner with The Iams Company for Iams Home 4 the Holidays, and this award will help raise even more awareness for orphaned pets around the world.”

The Cause Marketing Forum also announced that The Home Depot and KaBOOM! each received Cause Marketing Golden Halo Awards for their leadership in this fast-growing field.
