Patagonia Tour Season Getting Into Full Swing

As Patagonia tour season picks up, Seattle company Southern Explorations is offering a host of new eco-tour opportunities.

Bookings for Patagonia tours are starting to increase as the region's most pleasant weather approaches. Justin Laycob, president of Seattle-based Southern Explorations, said, "Unprecedented inquiries about Patagonia tours over the past year have prompted us to double the number of tour itineraries we offer to this remote part of the world. We're anticipating more bookings than ever before."

Among the new Patagonia tours are three that visit the Argentine side, a more affordable route that includes the Perito Moreno glacier, considered one of the continent's three most amazing sites. There's the 10-day Patagonia Highlights Tour that requires only leisurely hiking and offers such wildlife viewing opportunities as walking among the Magellanic penguins. The 12-day Patagonia Hiking Adventure includes some of the region's most famously rigorous and scenic treks. The 11-day Luxury Patagonia Tour visits both Chile and Argentina, on foot, horseback and catamaran. The new 13 Adventure Patagonia tour combines the famed W hike in the Torres del Paine National Park with several days of river rafting on the exciting Futaleufu River.

"Through our Patagonia trips and tour extensions, we aim to offer as wide a variety of activities as possible for a range of fitness levels," Laycob added. "For instance, because family interest has been especially keen, we've designed a Family Patagonia Adventure featuring a relaxed flexible itinerary, child-friendly accommodations and attractions guaranteed to excite travelers, ages five to fifteen."

To be assured the best of the picturesque estancia accommodations included on many of these tours, the time to book Patagonia vacations is now. Details about Southern Explorations' Patagonia tours may be found on the company website,
