New York, NY (PRWEB) June 18, 2006
Singer-songwriter and pianist Jodelle to perform at the 58th installment of the Songwriters Hall of Fame New Writers Showcase at The Cutting Room on Thursday, June 22, 2006. The event features live performances of original songs written and performed by nine National Association of Popular Music (NAPM) songwriters. Thursday’s installment features Jodelle, Foxtrot November, Lizzy Grant, Traciana Graves, Kristin Hoffmann, James Katz, La Petite Jacqueline, Josh Max and Brea Tremblay.
Jodelle, a musician since childhood, uses both her classical training and a variety of more current influences to create her signature sound. The June 2006 issue of Keyboard Magazine names Jodelle "Unsigned Artist of the Month," and Jodelle was featured as a "Top 12 DIY Pick" in Performing Songwriter Magazine's special Salute to Independents issue (December 2005). Jodelle will be performing on the grand piano and accompanied by violinist Deni Bonet (R.E.M., Sarah McLachlan) and cellist Stephanie Winters (Richie Havens, Paula Cole).
NAPM is the umbrella organization of the Songwriters Hall of Fame (SHOF) which works to support new talent to the songwriting profession through an extensive array of activities. The art of popular music is nurtured through the sponsorship of workshops, showcases, network meetings and open mics that have been developed, produced and administered by SHOF Projects Director Bob Leone since 1988. When the late great SHOF President Emeritus Sammy Cahn hired Bob in 1988 it was with a mandate to create programs that would benefit and attract young lyricists and composers - "our future inductees" - into the organization. John Legend is one of many well known past performers of the New Writers Showcase.
The Cutting Room is located at 19 West 24th Street in New York. The showcase begins promptly at 8 pm. For more about Jodelle, visit: http://www.jodelle.net. For more about NAPM/SHOF, visit http://www.songhall.org.
