Local Cancer Survivors Honored June 25
Carolina Regional Cancer Center, a local oncology practice which is affiliated with MUSC Hollings Cancer Center, will join forces with “A Cure in Our Lifetime,” which is a local non-profit organization dedicated to patient advocacy, education and financial assistance, to celebrate National Cancer Survivor’s Day on Sunday, June 25.
Myrtle Beach, S.C. (PRWEB) June 21, 2006 -- On Sunday, June 25 from 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the Pines Lakes International Country Club on Woodside Avenue in Myrtle Beach, physicians and staff from Carolina Regional Cancer Center will celebrate cancer survivorship with their patients, families and caregivers. The local event is called “Living in Full Bloom” and is part of the annual National Cancer Survivors Day celebration held in over 700 communities throughout the United States, Canada, and abroad throughout the month of June.
The afternoon’s activities will focus on celebrating life and will provide educational and fun-focused opportunities for survivors and their families to continue living fulfilling, joyous lives during and after cancer treatment. Caring community businesses available to help educate and inform guests include: Her Body and Soul, Perfect Fit, AFLAC Insurance, American Cancer Society, CRCC Physicians (to answer questions individually) and nutritionist Caroline McKee. Our “Bake or Cake Walk” will bring unforgettable smiles. Several children’s activities will also be provided. Guests will also enjoy an inspiring keynote presentation by the local Donna Tyson, award-winning author of the children’s book, The Red Bow, and music by the talented Charlie Floyd.

About A Cure In Our Lifetime
A Cure in Our Lifetime was formed eight years ago when a friend of the advertising industry in Myrtle Beach, S.C. was diagnosed with breast cancer. The organization’s mission is to help pay medical bills associated with the disease for local survivors in Horry and Georgetown Counties, as well as raising money to assist with payment of mammograms for underprivileged women.
