UC Davis Nation Youth Sports Program is Recipient of Gift from the "Infinite Love Foundation"

Doug and Jackie Christie’s “Infinite Love Foundation” meets the needs of the NYSP Summer Program.

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) June 21, 2006 -- Upon hearing that the National Youth Sports Program had been officially eliminated from the federal budget for the 2006 fiscal year, Doug and Jackie Christie’s “Infinite Love Foundation” reached out and made a sizable donation to the program.

The primary objectives of this program are to expand the opportunities for low-income, disadvantaged youth to benefit from sports skill instruction and engage in sports competition while acquiring good health practices and acquainting participants with career and educational opportunities.

Beginning June 26, 2006 and running for five weeks, 300 low-income, disadvantaged youth will be transported from various communities in the Greater Sacramento region to the U.C. Davis campus where they will participate in the National Youth Sports Program.

Each student will receive a hot, healthy breakfast and lunch each day, a free dental screening and a free physical prior to participation. In addition, students will receive instruction in golf, basketball, baseball, soccer, swimming, water polo, tennis, fencing, volleyball, track and field, softball and football. All students will attend three academic enrichment courses including computer technology, math, science, English and financial management.

Doug and Jackie Christie, founders of the “Infinite Love Foundation” choose a special need in the community each month and fulfill that need. The foundation focuses on making a difference in the lives of people that may otherwise be forgotten. “We are so happy to be able to give back to a community that was our home for so many years,” stated the Christies, “We loved being part of the Sacramento Community everyone there always treated us like family; it’s great that we can help this program.”

The Christies were a large part of the Sacramento Community for a number of years while Doug played professional basketball for the Sacramento Kings.
