Washington, D.C (PRWEB) June 23, 2006 -- Brennan “Uncle Brutha” Proctor COO of Uncle Brutha Gourmet Foods celebrates the Grand Opening of his Hot Sauce Emporium near Washington DC’s historic Eastern Market. On May 7th 2006, Capital Hill welcomed this new addition to the neighborhood with open arms. Visitors to the 43rd annual Market Day celebration experienced the added attraction of Uncle Brutha’s official Grand Opening and were amazed by all the shop had to offer. With comments like “this is heaven,” customers walked through the newly opened store to find a variety of over 300 different hot sauces, spices, marinades, dry rubs, barbeque sauces, seasonings, local vendor products, and, of course, lots of Uncle Brutha’s, the featured house hot sauce.
Having quickly become known throughout the Capital Hill area, Uncle Brutha’s Hot Sauces have appealed to the masses and have gone on to win 10 National Awards each since their initial introduction in January of 2004. Some recent awards include; 1st place for Fire Sauce #9 (Serrano Chiles, Garlic and Ginger) and 2nd place for Fire Sauce #10 (Four Chilies and Garlic) in the 2006 Scovie Awards’ “Unique” Hot Sauce category. With over 400 entrants, “Unique” was the most highly sought after category in the 2006 Scovies, one of the zesty foods industry’s more prestigious professional competitions. The idea to open his Hot Sauce Shop came to Proctor after receiving rave reviews while selling at his stand on 7th street right outside Eastern Market.
“I 'beta' tested the idea at the stand by bringing in a smaller collection of other award winning and top selling brands. The response was so enthusiastic that it only made sense to open a store like this here,” stated Proctor. Once the storefront opened on 7th street the dream became a reality. Simply put by Uncle Brutha himself, “It is now the place where one can come and find everything they need to flavorize their food.”
The store has everything from hot to mild to wild. With a tasting bar, one can explore not only the wide selection of hot sauces, but dipping sauces, salsa, wing sauces and more, to satisfy any heat level. Currently, you can find the two flavors of Uncle Brutha’s products on their website unclebrutha.com for shipping. There are future plans, however, to expand the website to contain all the other products available at the store for shipping as well.
