San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) June 21, 2006 -- TCB CAFE Publishing & Media unveils TasteTV as the new brand for its digital television venture formerly called The Indie Food Channel. The multiplatform food network will be able to be seen by millions of viewers from both http://www.TasteTV.com/ and on cable Video On Demand.

TasteTV brings to food lovers exciting and delicious cooking shows, recipe demonstrations by top chefs, chocolate and wine tastings, product and restaurant reviews, cooking classes, dinner parties, and short films & documentaries from around the U.S., Canada, and the World. The new brand's tagline is: "Taste It!"

Originally launched in 2004 as the Indie Food Channel, TasteTV was developed based on internal analysis that concluded that by 2006 there would be an abundance of digital bandwidth, not just for broadband internet video but also on major cable systems. A later discussion about venture capital investments confirmed that traditional television was deconstructing, where anyone could create and air a video without studio backing. The result would be a supply versus demand shift from producers desiring big network deals in order to reach their audiences to a new focus on low-cost production and on-demand distribution of entertaining, niche content.

These insights allowed TCB CAFE Publishing to create a media property that leverages the company's interest and strengths in food, wine, lifestyle and design. It also allows it to develop the kind of content that viewers crave, and broadcast them in the digital video locations that audiences and advertisers follow.

TasteTV programs bring a refreshing combination of subjects, surprise, humor, adventure and titillation to one of television's most watched genres. It also gives talented producers, chefs, hosts, and home cooks the widespread visibility and viewership they deserve. Says company director Stephanie Green, "Creating the TasteTV programs, including the restaurant profiles, is an international effort. It's energizing, and it helps that we happen to be located in one of the world's leading regions for culinary creativity and thought-leadership, San Francisco."

To further increase its lineup, TasteTV, the Indie Food Channel, has developed and licensed a number of fun and fascinating food, wine and lifestyle related programs, including several that originally were created for cable television, mobile phones and video podcasts. It has recently finalized a number of partnerships with food, appliance and beverage companies, including with chocolate producers for its “Chocolate Television” program. Its recent “Cake” music video was created by an internal team, lead by young director Sean Oughton.

In addition to its formal program lineup, TasteTV.com also includes links to food and industry blogs, vlogs, and podcasts. One area of the http:///www.TasteTV.com/ site is dedicated specifically to selected viral videos posted on popular Internet video provider YouTube.com. It also has proven to be a great place to find new food and indie filmmaker talent for TasteTV.com.
