Coates/Dolan Development has announced plans for a mixed-use master-planned community called Vista Antigua, which will be developed on a 22-hectare (approximately 55-acres) site located on Calle de Independencia, just minutes from downtown San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and the proposed Las Ventanas golf course. “Vista Antigua will offer all the beauty, energy and excitement of being in the heart of San Miguel de Allende, combined with the benefits of living in a planned, secure community,” said Nick Coates, founding partner of Coates/Dolan Development.

Spanish for “ancient view,” Vista Antigua takes its name from its vantage point above San Miguel de Allende’s historic city center. The panoramic view is dominated by the spires of the La Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel (circa 1689) and San Miguel’s many other beautiful churches. The Vista Antigua community will have the Sierra Madre mountain range in the distance with sweeping views looking into the heart of the carefully preserved city.

Vista Antigua is planned to include a blend of home styles and price ranges. At the gated entrance of the community, there will be two parks modeled after traditional town centers found throughout Mexico. The parks are designed to be similar to San Miguel’s own “Jardin”. Adjacent to the park area, a stylish retail space is planned with shopping, restaurants and office space featuring Old World architecture including arched portals and wide stone walkways.

“In planning Vista Antigua, we met with local community leaders who expressed their desire for new developments in San Miguel to include community-oriented gathering centers with shopping, parks and restaurants, in keeping with the traditional land use patterns of Mexico,” said Jim Dolan, managing partner for Coates/Dolan Development. “With plans for an upscale retail center and dedicated park space, the concept for Vista Antigua is based on this philosophy.
