Groomstand.com Unveils Nationwide Search for the Best Marriage Proposal Stories

First 'Marrying Man of the Month' honors go to groom who rigged Las Vegas slot machine to read "Will You Marry Me?"

Santa Rosa, CA (PRWEB) June 23, 2006 -- GroomStand.com, (www.groomstand.com), the leading purveyor of fine groomsmen gifts, today honored its first “Marrying Man of the Month.” The “Marrying Man” title is bestowed on the author of the best or worst marriage proposal story collected each month by the editors at Groomstand.com.

As part of a nationwide search, men and woman are encouraged to submit their proposal stories, while the editors at Groomstand.com also scour the Internet and print publications for unique and note-worthy proposals. Each month one story is chosen as the “Marrying Man of the Month,” and receives an exclusive write-up on Groomstand.com.

The first “Marrying Man” title goes to Dr. Raymond Suarez, a 27-year-old physician from Yonkers, N.Y. Dr. Suarez took a big gamble when he proposed to his girlfriend, Maria Viller, in a very public way. With the help of Paris Hotel Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Suarez rigged a slot machine to display “WILL YOU MARRY ME?” on the machine’s reels when an unsuspecting Lillar pulled the lever. Hoping to increase his odds, Saurez dropped to one knee and repeated the proposal in front of a crowd of showgirls, gamblers, and tourists. The real payoff came when Villar said yes.

“Our hat’s off to Dr. Suarez for his truly creative marriage proposal, and we’re thrilled to name him as our very first Marrying Man,” stated Ramin Ramhormozi, President of Shopping Stand, Inc. (owner of GroomStand.com). “Let’s face it, proposals can be pretty nerve-wracking, especially when you add the pressure of coming up with a proposal that’s going to be memorable. GroomStand.com wanted to give grooms and soon-to-be-grooms a chance to brag about their creativity, while sharing their innovative ideas with all those guys who just don’t know what do about their own proposals. We hope this provides them with some inspiration.”

Over the next year, GroomStand.com also plans to add an advice column and a content community where soon-to-be proposers can bounce ideas off each other.

Contestants can send their proposal entries to marryingman @ groomstand.com. Too view additional creative proposals, go to www.groomstand.com.
