Transport Technologies, Inc. Makes Shipping Freight Easier and Cheaper

Commercial shippers will receive better service at a more competitive price because of a new online service that allows carriers to bid on loads. This cutting edge technology is offered by Alabama Transport Technologies on their website www.altransporttech.com, or by contacting them at 1-877-702-4433.

Birmingham, AL (PRWEB) June 24, 2006 -- According to the American Trucking Association, businesses spend 81 cents out of every dollar they spend on shipping on trucks. However, with over 68,000 trucking companies nationwide, finding the right hauler at the right price in a timely manner can be daunting. Alabama Transport Technologies may have solved this problem.

According to owner Nick Noll, Alabama Transport Technologies is the exclusive distributor for an online interface between shippers, brokers and haulers that will lower the cost of shipping by increasing efficiency in the process. The cost savings for their companies could be substantial. One local company (who wishes to remain undisclosed) has already cut their costs in half!

According to Noll, many shippers are more concerned with quality of service than with price. “They need to know they can have their cake and eat it too. They can have quality at a reasonable price. Our blind bidding process lets business owners know they are getting the best price, while our carrier evaluation history allows them to select carriers with the best reputation.

“In addition, this service eliminates much of the complicated paperwork involved,” Noll continued. This may be good news to purchasing agents and shipping clerks. “They used to make multiple calls or faxes to find the best price, now they just enter the shipment information on a simple online form, and let the trucking companies and brokers come to them. I’m excited because this is making it much easier for manufacturers, banks, hospitals, and other businesses to manage their freight shipping logistics.”

Not all carriers are to blame for the high prices, says Noll. “Haulers have to compensate for LTL (less than load) and empty return loads by raising prices. Our technology won’t eliminate that entirely but it will create more efficiency in the marketplace. There are more than 1000 trucking companies in Alabama, and many of them struggle to find ways to compete with the large, national haulers. This will level the playing field, offering them the opportunity to compete on a load-by-load basis.”

Brokers can benefit from this service, too. Noll said, “The average broker works long hours, not only because of the competitive nature of the marketplace, but because of the inefficiencies in matching loads with carriers at a reasonable price. By using our services, they could conceivably cut their time in half.”

Ultimately, this service has the ability to benefit the entire state of Alabama, and the whole nation. 94% of household furniture and products are shipped by truck, as well as most commercial products, from office furniture to manufacturing equipment. Creating more efficiency in the trucking industry will ultimately lower the cost of consumer and commercial products. This service has the potential to revolutionize the transportation industry, benefiting shippers, haulers, and ultimately consumers.
