Functionpix, the online organisation offering news articles and photographs for the national and foreign press as well as the world’s online community, has been redesigned and launches this week. After several months of careful planning and programming, the website currently in Beta form has been completely rebuilt become a completely ‘user defined’ system where independent freelance writers, photographers and journalists can upload their work and clients can browse and buy up to the minute news articles and photographs of world events
Pascal Molliere, the founder of the organisation claimed,
"I wanted to enable creative freelancers the ability to manage their own work flow from start to finish. People’s working lives have changed and more and more people are choosing to work independently and so I wanted to create a system that allows people more freedom and control’.
Functionpix is set to quickly become a major part of the online media community where freelance photographers and journalists can source and attend events – members can manage their own submissions and results in real time. All articles are screened and copy checked prior to release and buyers can elect to receive articles and images exclusively ahead of being released on the world wide web. All work is electronically labelled, copyrighted and sent directly to each relevant media buyer. The system caters for a huge range of clients from national newspapers and media publications to local publications and online readers. Functionpix also makes all content available to private individuals including the participants and attendees of the events they cover and Functionpix private event team even provides a unique service for private occasions and you can book a professional press photographer and a journalist to cover your own birthday party or corporate special event.
Lead programmer, Peter Hrdy worked on the system along with a team of talented developers and designers building, optimising and re-working the system from top to toe.
‘The level of traffic is set to increase very rapidly as every article released on the new site is automatically optimised for all major search engines. Images are all iptc rich and the implementation of RSS will ensure that Functionpix content reaches a very wide audience very quickly”.
Functionpix continues to dedicate a percentage of all its sales to charity. Photographs taken of any given event can be resized and purchased in any wide range or products including caps, mugs, t-shirts and calendars. The website intends to become one of the UK's leading organisations in providing up to date news and pictures for any occasion.
